This is the basis for our tireless efforts to draw the power of the new from the transformation of the old, in order to continuously be a competent and reliable partner for you. A look back at our company history shows the enormous dynamism behind Hense Systeme’s philosophy. Although our history only goes back to 1966, many challenges arose in this comparatively short time:
Gründung
Wilhelm Hense Systeme & Co. GmbH is founded by Wilhelm Hense Systeme and his son Paul Wilhelm Hense Systeme with the object “Manufacture of machines and tools as well as trade with these products”.
Entwicklung des Drehkolbenzylinders
Thanks to the now five years of experience in the development and manufacture of customer-specific machine components, we are developing a system-simplifying drive – called rotary piston cylinder – and initially presenting it to the construction machinery industry.
Hydraulische Schwenktriebe
Based on the success of the first rotary piston cylinders, our hydraulic rotary actuators of the HRS and HRS BD series are developed and brought to series production. From then on, the entire mechanical engineering industry uses the very power-dense drive concept and thus rewards our market entry.
Relaunch
Our market experience with the HRS and HRS BD series, combined with consistent further development, results in a relaunch, so that the HSG, HSE, HSB and HSK series can be presented to an interested market.
Erweiterung
Expansion of our production area by 350 m².

Foundation of the subsidiary Hense Systeme GmbH with the object “Development and sales of drive and automation systems”.

Neue Firmenkonstellation
Wilhelm Hense Systeme & Co. GmbH is transferred to Hense Systeme Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, which from then on is the sole shareholder of Hense Systeme GmbH.
Within this new company constellation, the marketing strategies and, above all, the product policy are realigned.
Neue Anwendungen
Our strategic realignment, under which we see ourselves as a provider of customer-specific components and system solutions, is successful, so that we are allowed to successfully develop a large number of new applications.
Neue Rechtsform
In preparation for the handover to the third family generation, to Mr. Frank Hense Systeme, Hense Systeme Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH and Hense Systeme GmbH are merged into a new legal form – Hense Systeme GmbH & Co. KG. From then on, the company’s object is the development, manufacture and sale of fluidic drive components and systems.
Hydrostatische Antriebe
In October, our previous competitor Karl Henninger e.G. hands over its “hydraulic rotary actuators” product line to Hense Systeme GmbH & Co. KG. The newly established market relationships are fully integrated into our marketing concept.
Kostenführerschaft
Through the complete modernization and restructuring of the entire profit center “Manufacturing”, the strategy of segment leadership pursued since 1995 can be successfully supplemented by the strategy of cost leadership.
Gute Zukunftsprognose
Hense Systeme GmbH & Co. KG now employs 40 people and generates a turnover of 6 million euros. Due to the change in marketing strategies in 1995, sales could be more than doubled in 5 years.
Erfolgreichstes Jahr
Through repeated modernizations and the continued pursuit of our marketing strategies, Hense Systeme manages to both consolidate its existing market position and expand into other areas.
Sparmaßnahmen
The so-called financial crisis that began at the end of 2008 has gripped the global economy and thus also mechanical engineering. The year 2009 will therefore also be a challenging year for Hense Systeme GmbH & Co. KG with an industry-standard drop in sales of 35%. However, austerity measures and the good corporate structure meant that even this difficult year ended with a positive result. Since April 2010, we have once again been able to record steadily increasing incoming orders, so that we can once again build on the good years 2006–2008 and can therefore look positively into the future.
Erweitertes Produktspektrum
Hense Systeme GmbH & Co.KG is expanding its product range to include the two divisions:
• The hydraulic tool changer
• Hydr. rotary actuators for your fifth axis
… and presents them at the “EMO 2011” trade fair in Hanover. Furthermore, the development of the hydraulic rotary actuator for applications in test bench technology is being driven forward.
Supplier Award
Hense Systeme receives the “Supplier Award 2014” from Gebrüder Heller GmbH in Nürtingen as an award for outstanding achievements in the areas of quality and adherence to delivery dates.
Automotive Testing Expo
After numerous modernization measures in recent years, Hense Systeme GmbH & Co. KG now employs 30 people and has established a secure position on the entire machine tool market. For the first time, the team from Hense Systeme is also presenting its products for applications in the field of test bench technology at the “Automotive Testing Expo” in Stuttgart.
Jubiläumsjahr
Big company anniversary: Hense Systeme GmbH & Co. KG was able to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Development of clutch mechanism plates and pallet interlocks
Gesteigerte Produktionsmöglichkeiten
Through further renewals of the machinery, Hense Systeme is increasing its production possibilities and vertical range of manufacture. In 2017, our well-coordinated team will once again represent Hense Systeme at the “Automotive Testing Expo 2017 Europe” in Stuttgart and present our products for applications in test bench technology.
In 2022, we are developing hydrostatically mounted test bench cylinders.
Neue Geschäftsführung
Due to the tragic loss of Mr. Frank Hense Systeme in May and Mr. Paul Wilhelm Hense Systeme in August, Mr. Christian Sartor joins the company as the new managing director. Together with the support of the entire Hense Systeme team and Mrs. Theresa Hense, the company is looking positively into the year 2024 with a “course towards the future” and is looking forward to the upcoming changes and challenges.
