HENSE swivel motors for motorcycles
In motorcycle racing, HENSE swivel motors are successfully integrated as controlled servo-hydraulic axles in a complex control loop.
A swivel motor is used to adjust the throttle valves of the carburetors, while a second swivel motor is used to change gears by actuating the shift drum in the gearbox.
By evaluating various measured values, the control circuit enables precise interaction between the two swivel motors, which in turn enables the driver to change gear smoothly and safely via a rocker switch, even under full load and without actively engaging the clutch.
