For dynamic testing of material samples, two servo-hydraulic torsion test rigs are used at the Chair of Machine Elements at TU Dresden, in which the durable HENSE swivel motors provide the reliable drive units.
Thanks to the servo-hydraulic principle, force- or angle-controlled load curves with frequencies of up to 40 Hz are easily possible, depending on the stiffness of the specimen. In this way, fatigue strength tests with several million load cycles can be reliably realized in a reasonable time.
By using HENSE swivel motors of different sizes and highly dynamic control valves matched to them, material samples can be tested on two test benches with high control accuracy in different load ranges.
Test bench “Dr. Dreh” : HENSE swivel motor type HSH 1 SG DI with M = 200 Nm; f max = 40 Hz; φ max = +/- 60°
Test bench “Torsten” : HENSE swivel motor type HSH 2 SG DI with M = 400 Nm; f max = 40 Hz; φ max = +/- 60°
Both swivel motors are equipped with digital rotary encoders and pressure accumulators close to the motor reduce harmful vibrations resulting from possible pulsations. The vertical arrangement of the load train, in which the material samples are integrated backlash-free by means of clamping elements, reduces disruptive lateral forces to a minimum. The effective torque is fed to the control loop with high precision from a torque flange as the controlled variable.
